Sea World Award

Anya Gupta's love of penguins and the environment inspired her to become involved in protecting penguins at an early age. Her dedication, hard work, and leadership on environmental education and conservation efforts caught the attention of the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Youth Advisory Council, a group of young leaders from throughout the country who give feedback and support to the organization's work from a youthful viewpoint. At the mere age of ten, Anya was awarded the Youth Environmental Excellence Award by SeaWorld and Busch Gardens in 2020. The Youth Environmental Excellence Award is a prominent award that recognizes young leaders who have proven a strong dedication to environmental conservation, sustainability, and activism. The award honors young people like Anya who are making a difference in their communities and the environment through their hard work, commitment, and leadership characteristics.

She had the chance to meet fellow environmentalists who shared her passion for protecting the planet and the team at SeaWorld who organized an amazing behind the scenes weekend. Not only was Anya given the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals, she even got to pet a penguin for the first time ever! This close encounter with one of her favorite animals was a dream come true for Anya, and it only fueled her passion for penguin conservation even more. Having adored penguins since she was four years old, receiving the award was an incredible honor for Anya, and she remains committed to her mission of protecting penguins and their habitat. Anya's story is an inspiration to us all, and a reminder that we can all make a difference in protecting the planet and its precious wildlife. Join her in her efforts to safeguard these beloved birds!
